Pekayon TPS Shelter Effectively Handles 120 Tons of Waste per Day

The existence of a shelter or temporary dump site (TPS) on Jalan Raya Bogor, RW 02, Pekayon Urban Village, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta, has proven effective in handling waste from five urban villages in the area.

then be disposed of at the Bantar Gebang TPST

Head of Pekayon Urban Village, Ahmad Bakri said this shelter serves as a transit point for waste from five urban villages: Pekayon, Cijantung, Baru, Kalisari, and Gedong. This location is a temporary solution, replacing the TPS on Jalan Pendidikan in Cijantung Urban Village.

"At this shelter, waste from small vehicles such as motorbike carts and environmental vehicles is transferred to large trucks to then be disposed of at the Bantar Gebang TPST," he said, Wednesday (4/8).

Waste Management at Kramat Jati Market Reaches 2,002 Tons

According to him, the majority of the waste entering the shelter, which has been operating since April 2, 2026, comes from residential areas.

"Currently, all neighborhood units (RW) in Pasar Rebo District have waste banks. In fact, several mosques have also implemented waste sorting systems," he added.

Meanwhile, Pasar Rebo District's Staff of Environmental Unit, Marudin explained six large trucks with a capacity of 10 tons are deployed everyday to transport waste from the location to the Bantar Gebang TPST.

"Two transport trips per truck, the total volume of waste successfully transported reaches around 120 tons per day," he explained.

According to him, the waste disposal quota from Pasar Rebo District to the Bantar Gebang TPST is limited to a maximum of 14 trips per day. Therefore, the use of large-capacity trucks is a strategy to optimize transportation.
